Skull and Bones

In October, 60 Minutes investigated the ultimate old boys network Skull and Bones, which raises about 15 Yale playahs per year into its innermost cabal. The “Bonesmen” ultimately usher one another into positions of power in America – presidents, spies, Supreme Court Justices. George Bush is a Bonesman. But then, so is Senator Kerry. “President Bush has tapped five fellow Bonesmen to join his administration.” The group is cloaked in the utmost secrecy, and members won’t talk about its workings even to their closest confidantes. Or at least they never did until 60 Minutes got a bunch of the old boys talking.

Correction: Actually, Alexandra Robins got the Skull folks talking. 60 Minutes just reports here.

Thanks rinchen.

  1. Actually, Alexandra Robins, author of “Secrets of the Tomb”, got some of them to talk. She was a member of Yales “Skull and Key” secret society, and she says they confided out of trust and a desire to speak.

But they didn’t speak w/ 60 minutes. Nor did Kerry, who has refused comment on his membership, which has been active, at least as a recruiter.

  2. Which is why Kerry fails to excite me in the least. Just another privileged insider (Washington & otherwise). If he gets the nomination, it’ll be another four years of Dubyah… :/

  3. Though there is an argument that Bush Sr. is more moderate (see his public questioning of the rush to war w/ Iraq in the beginning), but I think one should look at the actions of these patrician power brokers as a continuity.

It certainly goes back as far as Prescott Bush’s Nazi banking connections…

… and continues through Halliburton (a descendent of Prescott’s corportations), Bechtel, et al.

Remember that Bush Sr. was in power in the 60’s as CIA (Capitalism’s Invisible Army as Bucky Fuller called it) operative and assumed directorship 1975-77.

Remember this is the same cast of characters (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et. al) who supported Saddam’s rise to power.

With the Bushes “you get really what amounts to a four-generation history of involvement with finance and the oil industry. That’s what they’ve done. They haven’t done much else. And their loyalties are enormous toward, first off, an economics of investors and inheritors, as opposed to workers and earners; and, secondly, a very close tie to the intelligence agencies of the military-industrial complex, of which the oil industry has become a major part.”

This is why Kerry’s patrician secret society ties are so disturbing, especially as he refuses comment.

I agree when it comes to the Bush family and their extremely troubling ties to CIA and the finance and energy industries. But I don’t think it’s fair to tar Kerry with the same brush. His voting record has been entirely different, he’s got a long antiwar record, and doesn’t have the same spook/oil connections at all. To say it’s a sinister conspiracy just because he was in the same frat as the Bushies is way too simplistic.

If Kerry has ugly ties to the military-industrial complex I want to hear about them, and I’d love to hear how his Skull & Bones membership ties to that. But just being Skull & Bones doesn’t make him automatically suspect.

  5. Chris is right to point that it’s not right to tar Kery w/ the same brush. By saying I was disturbed by his connection to skull & bones, i may have implied that he would fall in line w/ the nefarious activities of many of his brethren. Obviously there is no way to know and one should look to his actions, as Chris suggests.

As for his voting record, Mr. Kerry voted for the USA Patriot Act, Mr. Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” education bill and the Congressional resolution authorizing the president to use force in Iraq, only to criticize all three once he became a presidential candidate.

Nevertheless, the seemingly absolute secretism, manipulation, and aggression of Bush/Cheney (Carlysle/Halliburton) inspires me to support almost any candidate which offers a semblance of honesty or fairness.

“Naysayers we know. To conclude purely negatively from the positive absence of political odia and monetary requests that its page cannot ever have been a penproduct of a man or woman of that period or those parts is only one more unlooked for conclusion leaped at, being tantamount to inferring from the nonpresence of inverted commas (sometimes called quotation marks) on any page that its author was always constitutionally incapable of misappropriating the spoken words of others.”

  7. It’s Scroll & Key, not “Skull and Key.”

Some others are Book & Snake, Berzelius (“BZ”), Manuscript, Wolf’s Head, and so on.

At Yale, they’re called “senior societies,” not “secret societies,” because only seniors are members. There are typically 15 per senior class per society.

Most or all are incorporated under different names. For example, Skull and Bones is incorporated as “The Russell Trust.”

People outside of Yale put WAY too much importance on these societies. Since frats are so weak on the campus, these organizations basically serve a similar function. The people in societies are “bonded” together in much the same way as frat brothers or sorority sisters are at other schools — but it’s really not sinister. It’s just the names that get people going.

100 years ago, these societies had influence. Today they are really kind of unimportant.

  8. I work for the Skulls and Bones >> 322, I helped plan and implement several attacks on ‘we the people.’ Yet the Skull and Bones do not know I work for the Illuminati, ‘the infinitely enlightened’ and we are planning an attack of our own on them. The Skull and Bones will soon lose their power over the people, and will have to stop the tyranny, deceit, fear mongering and war propaganda. We the people will be free to live in peace, prosperity and happiness once again, as our fore-fathers and mothers wanted.
