Business Blogs

Looking around for examples of sites where blogging / CMS software is used to drive business sites, but not finding much. Wondering if I’m simply not looking in the right place or whether business as a category hasn’t caught on that they can save a few tens of thousands by skipping the high-end CMS or the hand-built site and going with a tailored weblog instead. Any examples you can think of? Comments welcome.

  1. I’m working on one, though the client is dragging ass, so the actual CMS part isn’t complete yet…the rest of the site has been done and sitting here for over a month. *sigh*

But basically, what it is, is to allow the company and their technologically illiterate minions to make updates to certain sections of certain pages of the site, yet never, ever, ever lay their filthy little hands on the code, meaning they can’t screw it up, which will obviously cost me billable hours, but waylay a whole lot of aggravation down the road. It’s going to be fabulous.

  2. Sounds like you’re emulating the basic functionality of Macromedia Contribute. Sounds good, do post here when it’s online, I’d like to see it.

  3. just 3 years ago when i started a digital media company, adventure zone network, we used a high-end CMS (allaire spectra), a cheap version of what companies like Vignnette and Interwoven were doing. These CMS were charging 100k plus required a lot of expensive engeering to customer templates. NOW, moveable type provides for 80% of functionality and a nice donation price.

this is fantastic. personal CMS for everyone
