The Turgid Miasma of Existence

Walking with Miles in the stroller last night, came across a box of free LPs on the sidewalk, one of which was The Celibate Rifles’ “The Turgid Miasma of Existence” — one of the great album titles of all time. Turntable is packed so haven’t yet listened, but sure came in handy for swooping a hornet out of the house this morning.

  1. Damn, I don’t know anyboby else that’s even heard of the Celibate Rifles! Scot, you are, much like myself, a true fan of music.

I check your blogs each day (got you in NetNewsWire), and have enjoyed your writing for many years. I still have my BeOS Bible, although I don’t use BeOS anymore.

OK, this may be painfully obvious, but did you ever notice that the name “Celibate Rifles” seems to be an intentional word-play off of “Sex Pistols”?

  2. Hey John – thanks for the comments. At the risk of sounding somewhat turgid, I’d have to say, “Yup, the pun on Sex Pistols is painfully obvious.” :)
