Call Your Blog

Just got a call from Noah Glass at audblog – a service that lets you post to your blog from any phone. He wants us to consider it for use at the J-School… some interesting possibilities. Noah set me up with an account to test with — click link below to hear me narrate this entry live and unedited. And the first person to respond that it sounds like I just “phoned in my performance” gets a noogie.

  1. Greeeeaaaat.
Now we’ll be able to keep up with LJ flamewars while we’re on the train!
    Yeah!
    Progress!

  2. Awww, that sounds nothing like you, Scot… Next time you get the enslaved midgets to do the work you don’t want to do you could at least attribute them…….. *sigh*

  3. I was skeptical when I first heard of Audblog. The price, etc. was off-putting from a personal user standpoint. It seemed pointless. But I’m less skeptical of the technology, at least, when I think about it being used journalistically. The printed word, as wonderful as it is, often cries out to be married with sound and pictures. When I became a journalist, I imagined a not-too-distant day when reporters would collect words, sound and video in their work and bring them all together in wonderful ways. It’s been done, but no too sucessfully and not to any great extent. Newspaper web sites still are largely static, digital versions of the paper versions. I’ll look forward to seeing what, if anything, emerges out of this discussion.

    Cheers.

  4. As it turned out, half a dozen J-School profs became very excited when I showed them the demo, and it looks like we’re going to go ahead with an installation, so hopefully we’ll have some cool stuff appearing this coming semester.
